Creation of the Board Game

CREATORS

Zachary G.
Born in New York and raised under the Florida sun, I grew up in a family that made Sundays special. Every week, we gathered around the table for card and board games — a tradition that still carries on today. Those moments sparked my lifelong love for games that bring people together.

I was born and raised in New York before moving to Florida at age ten. Growing up with three sisters, our house was always full of energy. Both of my parents served in the New York Police Department and were active during 9/11, so life was often fast-paced. Whenever I had free time, I loved unwinding by playing video games on our old Gamecube with my sisters or dueling my friends in Yu-Gi-Oh!.

Note, the statue was temporarily removed, so we weren't able to take a photo in 2025 with him.

BOARD GAME ORIGINS

Every year during our travels, we make it a tradition to visit our friends and stop by Hithertoo Coffee and Gaming Parlour each morning. We grab a spinach and cheese galette, order whatever coffee we’re craving, and pick out a board game to play.

Over time, we found ourselves joking about creating our own game — until one day, we decided to actually do it. We wanted something simple to learn, fast to play, and fun whether you’re solo or with friends. Our goal: a game that could go from setup to play in under five minutes, yet still offer depth for seasoned gamers.

Inspired by our shared love of fantasy worlds, we built our first game around mages, their apprentices, and the journey of mastering magic within a grand academy.
